Previous to New York, I was in Atlanta, so I will start by telling you all about that. It was only 2 nights and 2 real days there but I had such a good time. Some of you will know I was staying with a friend of a friend named Jill, who turned out to be so nice and I really enjoyed being with her family and also seeing an American family, as I feel they live slightly different to English people. In terms of education, weather and just life in general, such as the food they eat. It was all, what I felt, was very American, but that's what made me love it so much. I was staying in a suburban place called Peachtree City, outside Atlanta, Georgia state's capitol. The houses were so beautiful and they are one of the only communities that get to ride around on golf carts as young as 15! Which I personally was amazed by and thought it was a brilliant idea. So we went on a trip in the golf cart to get ingrediants to make smores, delicious by the way, sugary goodness! On my first day we took a trip to the World of Coca-Cola, which was lots of fun and I never realised how many things Coca-Cola owned. If you go there, try Beverly from Italy, it's er....different. Of course they give you a free glass bottle of coke, which I won't be drinking. Could Coke get better with age much like wine? We shall see! For dinner we had something called potatoe pizza, sounds weird but was weirdly delicious. It was like replacing the tomato sauce with potatoe, not exactly healthy but it was interesting and I really enjoyed it. We then had dessert from an ice-cream shop, and there were so many types. Not flavors, I mean there were plenty but actual types of ice-cream. Gelato, custard and an ice something or other, all good in their own ways. But I had the custsrd chocolate ice-cream. It doesn't taste of custard, it's the texture, and wow! It was so creamy and mousse-like, I would LOVE to have it again. I also took a trip to a place called the Varsity, very famous in Atlanta, and VERY greasy. But I loved greasy junk food and I loved the Varsity. Although I my skin would hate me if I had it on a regular basis! The next day was the CNN tour, and man was it big. I was made invisible by the green screen, you can see photos on facebook! My new mission is to one day be working at that very News Studio as a journalist! We managed t squeeze in a trip to the Cheesecake Factory, as I've always wanted to try it. Lucky we did too as there isn't one in New York! But the cheescake was so delicious, and the array of flavors, but I went with lemon and raspberry. I luurve the lemon!
Altogether, my short but sweet trip to Atlanta was well worth the long, long coach journeys and I definately need to return as it was a place that really appealed to me! Now though, I'm in New York, and boy, whatta town!
I have seen every tourist attraction possible so far, except Lady Liberty, she is coming up soon though. I've been to the Empire State Building, Grand Central Terminal, Cryslar Building, Times Sq., Central Park, American Museum of Natural History (a shame as a lot is being renovated so I missed some of it and the entrance is ugly under scaffolding) and the Metropolitin Museum of Art. I think that's it but I am planning to see the Botanical Gardens, Statue of Liberty and Wicked, the Musical! I'm very excited for everything! And I have done enough shopping to last a lifetime...well no. In New York you can never do enough shopping! I went into Tiffany and Co and am planning on getting some charms to add to my bracelet at home! Something I realised though was how it has been my dream, I mean actual dream, to come to New York. I have always been jealous of every friend who has come here and always dreamed of the day I would see every place I know and love. But now I am here, I am living my dream, so...I need a new one....to one day live here, or own a place and visit. It's a bit more of a challenge but hopefully I won't forfill it as quickly as I did this one. As I am in New York at the mere age of 19, flying solo as planned. I also plan on having lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe before going to see Wicked! It's my last day too so what a way to spend it.
I'm sure I could say a lot more, such as when I was sat on the Subway and 4 guys jumped on, singing, rapping and playing guitar, it was SO New York. Or a woman who jumped on and started saying how her shelter didn't provide food and that she was pregnant (you could see she was) and that she needed money or food, and yet she had the money to get on the subway and when she turned around, she was covered in large tattoos! That must of cost a fair bit of sweet dollar! I think I will call it a night now though, as I still have 4 full days of city exploring and then on my 5th day, the sureal journey back home! Blog soon!
