Hey everyone,
Arrived into Luang Prabang early evening yesterday and got set up with somewhere to stay by about 6/6.30. Checked out the night market as well last night they shut down the main road for it at about 5 and then you just wander up and down it checking out dodgy tourist items, beer lao t-shirts etc, very cool though, really liked it. ended up staying in vang vieng a day longer than expected to do tubing but it was well worth it, basically involves getting in an inflatable ring at the top of the mekong river at about 10/11am and then stopping off at as many of the bamboo bars as possible between then and 6 o'clock. They have rope swings and everything whcih explains the residual soreness in my arms that ive had for the last couple of days!
Looks like im also going to be staying here a little longer than planned. Was desperate to go on a trek around luang prabang and because i arrived so late i couldnt book it until today, so that means iv got to stay tomorrow when i would have originally moved on to Hanoi in Vietnam. However there is a problem with that to as buses dont run direct to vietnam from here so i have to get a bus from here down to phosavon and spend a night there before moving on to vietnam so it will be the 6th before i eventually get there. Looks like im also gonna be cutting my trip short a week or two so hopefully be back on or around the 20th March and its looking like it may be a hell of alot easier to go back from bangkok rather than singapore so might head there instead.
Additionally was planning to go and see the royal ballet here this evening, but then i discovered United - Liverpool is an afternoon kick off there, meaning about 7pm here, meaning that the ballet is out, football is in...you can have too much culture you know!
