Hey guys,
Today we have arrived in Laos, having spent the last couple of days in bangkok awaiting visas for vietnam and cambodia (you have to get the Laos visa on the border, costs about 15 quid for 30 days, not that we will be here that long.). Travelling over the last few days has just been us sat on a bus basically, although Avery failed to mention the hellish day we had travelling from Koh Samui to Krabi. Firstly going upstairs to the room after breakfast he absolutely cracked his head on an edge from the ceiling (very funny) nearly knocking himself out. Then the bus was due to arrive at 12 so as im checking us out, getting valuables etc nick goes off looking for ipod headphones, not telling me where he is going and then, naturally, the bus comes. It ends up with me running up and down the streets of Chaweng (main area of Samui) looking for him and pleading with the bus driver to wait for him as he starts driving off down the street. I eventually found him back outside the hotel. Lets just say my response towards him was somewhat derisory and leave it at that. Then later he ends up leaving his wallet at one of the bus stations and has to go back with the taxi driver to get it, fortunately the station was only down the road, he noticed pretty much straight away and the change over bus wasn't due for an hour, so no harm done.
Having a couple of days in bangkok was quite good actually, we aren't that fussed by the place but it gave us abit of time to check out some things we missed first time around, e.g. Lumphini park, travelling on the skytrain. Also nick needed to go to the hospital to get a new prescription of malaria tablet as his old ones were pretty extreme and giving him weird dreams and leaving him pretty unwell. We have already discovered that Laos is even cheaper than Thailand and that beer lao is available freely here (obviously) which is great. We are gonna go catch a couple of hours sleep before doing anything else as the bus journey was abouts 14hours but should have more to report in a day or two. Will try and upload a few more photos as well.
