Hi Guys, thank you for visiting the site, We love getting the comments and as we are having trouble sending emails, this is the only was we can communicate with our friends at the moment.
Anyway, this is an experience in eating dirt! We have never been so dusty or eaten so much dirt in our lfe time. Driving there is half the fun. Hugh and I have to entertain ourselves, luckily there are no close circuit cameras in the car. Driving these roads are like riding the roller coaster . Heh....it is all about the experience. Where are we up to...
We started our treking in the gorges yesterday. Karijini is rated as being in the top 100 places that must be seen in the world and it is no wonder. It is a truely untouched beautiful, spectacular place! It is hard to capture the beauty in the pictures but I am attempting to give you a sence of the experience.
Yesterday we went to Fortescue falls in Dales Gorge. This took 4 hours of treking. The treks are rated in Black, red, green, yellow and blue. Blue being the hardest with the track mostly obscure and be prepared to get wet. It was a relatively easy day with ponds at either end. We stopped at all the ponds. Hugh got in to Circular pool and was complaining of shrinkage - apparently the water was cold. How would I know- I don't voluntarily get in unless its 24dergees. Simon, remind me to tell you what he did to me before the walk started - you will love it! Blake, Austin and Trent, I took the pics of the termite mound , sider and magots espeially for you. They were disgusting! Interestingly there was not a lot of bird life but we did see a blue wren for Faith.
Today started off fairly well, we dropped in to see the puppies. Couldn't stand being away from the little girls for so long. We are pathetic I know but can't help it. The girls are Ok and so are we now.
Weano Gorge is amazing! What a beautiful sight to behold. Such variety and diverse scenery. The textures and the terrain of this gorge was very different to yesterday. The walking started off fairly easy and soon became a little more challenging. We had to take our shoes off several times to traverse throught the water which was freezing! At one stage I was wading through the water, Hughie was ahead and I was carrying the nikon......yes you guessed it, I slipped in, camera and all! Bloody hell, you dont think I was almost walking on water! There I was armpits deep in the freezing water and hughie couldn't take a photo because that was the only time I was going to get in; involuntarily! The camera by the way Thanx G seems to be ok. It was very funny I must say! The maggots were not nice, when we got to Handrail pool after slipping and sliding on the silky smooth rocks and thick coverage of the tiny little critters a bunch of boisterous aussies entered the cavern beers in hand wearing thongs and proceeded to dive bomb in the pool. It was a spectacular sight but the smell won out and we had to leave. We did do two treks today, a mixture of green, blue and yelow. I hope that I have captured the sights sufficiently enough for you to get an idea of the immensity of the gorge and the wonder that is 2500 million years old.
Favourite things - Kangaroo and Joey crossing the road, clear water ponds, Pc falling in, the wonder of the gorge - so incredibly beautiful, seeing the puppies, road trip out, millers chilled upon returning to the caravan, reading the messages on the blog from our friends, chat with JJ.
