It's 830 at night, but you would think its 2 in the afternoon! It's so sunny and beautiful =) I'm sitting on my bed with ther breeze coming through the window and it's just lovely. Today was a pretty eventful day. I got up at 6.40 so i would have time to go to the shops to take new pictures for my tram pass before breakfast. The shops are open from 7am to 9am to here its pretty cool. It was pouring rain this morning, but I wasn't phased! I set out with an umbrella in one hand and a map in the other. I had no idea where the supermarket was so I just wandered along by the gorgeous river and took in the sights. I have never been so happy soaking wet in all my life! I eventually found the big shopping centre, where not a single person spoke english. It's frustrating not being able to speak czech, I hate being the rude tourist type asking 'do you speak english'? It has been fun at times though trying to find ways to communicate, and the squeals of delight from me and the other person when we understand!
I got horribly lost on the way home! At first I didn't mind, I just took in the sights of this beautiful town, but after an hour, and running late for breakfast, the novelty soon wore off. I eventually accepted defeat after going around in circles a million times, and caught a cab back. I'm still figuring out the conversion rates so I freaked out a little when it was 53 krowns, but thats only like three dollars. Beer here is hilarious! It's like two bucks for a huge mug! It's way cheaper than water, which you must ask for with or without gas!
At breakfast this morning two canberra boys called me to their table, which was awesome to see some familiar faces and we get on great too. Everyone here is so so nice. I am yet to feel lonely or isolated because I am surrounded by the most friendly people! There is always an interesting conversation to be had or someone to hang out with. My room mate Kimmie is letting me use her internet as I am one of the few without a laptop of my own. I would love to be on it all night, but I try to be because she is paying for it and refuses to let me chip in.
After brekky we hd orientation which was basically some group get to know each other activities, a run down of the rules of the program and the buying of all our books and things. After that we had lunch at a local czech restuarant. I went for the vegetarian option which was potatoes, salad and deep fried cheese. SO delicious. I'm not kidding, I love it! I will probably be over it in a month, but it's so good!
After lunch was a scavenger hunt around town, which saw us running all over the place looking for new clues. Each clue turned out to be in an important place we would need to be able to get to like the doctor, metro stations, shops and laundromat. I wasn't wearing socks so my feet are terribly blistered, but god it was fun! We got lost a lot, but it made for some great laughs along the way and some good team bonding. I love this place! I may never leave!
I can't wait for my free days to explore the city. I get 8 in totaly, so I probably won't stay after the program. I know I will miss everyones company when I am by myself in Greece. But I'm lucky to have these people to support me my first time overseas. It's good to get my grounding while I still have everyone here.
The retreat starts tommorow so I won't have access to the Internet for five days! I might go a little crazy. I will be staying at a castle in Bohemia tommorow and then its off to the monastry. No showers, beds or electrical appliances there, really time to rough it! It will be tough, but I'm looking forward to it.
I miss everyone a lot, but I wouldn't change doing this for the world. I am having a great time! I wish I could hear all your voices on the phone though. It was so nice to hear mum say I love you today, but also a bit hard cause I just wanted a hug too. I hope you are all doing ok! I will be in touch again as soon as possible.
All my love,
