We had been to Vannes on a number of occasions but these have normally been at a weekend - on a Saturday the place is rammed as it is market day, on a Sunday it is quiet as the shops are closed. This time however we visited on a Friday and thought we would make a day of it in Vannes which is about a twenty minute drive from our French house.
Having parked at the old port area of Vannes we wandered alongside the boats and kept going heading out to the Bay of Morbihan and after about three miles of walking we arrived in Conleau. It was nice to end up somewhere new and it was also a really nice place to have lunch and a refreshing cold drink.
Having caught the bus back to the centre of Vannes we had enough time to enjoy a walk around the historic central area of the town and take in a few of the shopping opportunities that were on offer. Vannes really is a a bit of a hidden gem and somewhere that really in 'absolutley gorgeous' and made for a nice place to enjoy the day on our Wedding Anniversary.
