We were staying in Malestroit, where we have a small holiday home, for a week in early October and it is always nice to visit new places when we have the chance to do so.
After a later start than planned - due to a suspected rodent incursion in the attic at the house - we headed around 120km north to coastal area of Brittany. Our first port of call was Binic which took around 1 hour and 40 minutes to reach by car.
Given the later start than we had hoped for, we arrived pretty much at lunchtime and headed for a creperie for some food - trying to find something light/small for lunch other than a savoury crepe (or more accurately a gallette) can be a challenge in Brittany as it tends to be that, or a full three course meal on offer at most places.
Binic was however absolutely gorgeous, with a massive beach area - especially as the tide was out - and some impressive views from the cliffs overlooking the coast were also to be had. It was a nice place to spend a few hours especially as the weather was good too.
We also headed up the coast to Sant Quay Portrieux, less than 10km from Binic. The town area itself seemed a bit lacking in life, but the port area was much busier and a far better place for a drink before it was time to head back to Malestroit as the weather was turning for the worse.
