Right after an early breakfast we took a cab ride to Tegel airport. Traffic was light and we arrived in about 15 minutes. We seemed to be the only non-Germans on the Air Berlin flight -- no surprise there -- and by 1:00 pm we were in Malaga.
We got our Ford Focus rental from Hertz quickly and without hassle, unlike the Dollar experience in Berlin! About 20 minutes later we were at our hotel. It's a small family run hotel (only 11 rooms) up on a mountainside on the outskirts of Malaga. The views overlooking the city and the Mediterranean beyond are fabulous (see pic). It had great on line reviews and we weren't disappointed.
Candace (from New Brunswick of all places) and her Spanish boyfriend are the proprietors. He is also the chef at the hotel restaurant. Candace showed us around the place and served us some great salads for a late lunch in the restaurant.
We considered driving back into the city or to a beach on the nearby coast, but ultimately decided to stay put. We spent most of the afternoon sitting in the sun by the pool and on a patio off our room. The weather was the best we've had on the trip so far -- sunny and 25 deg. It was good to just relax.
We had a late dinner, Spanish style, at 8:30, with Candace serving us once again. Fish is their specialty, so Evelyn had the turbot and the rest of us had the wild sea bass. It was excellent -- best meal of the trip so far. To cap it off, Candace brought us three kinds of local liqueur type drinks, on the house, because we were Canadians. A perfect ending to another very good day.

Jim It is good to be Canadian and better to eat fish.25 degrees you say-it is low 20s here , clear, with unsettled weather conditions.
Jim Malaga looks within striking distance of Gibraltar. If Shelley and I were there today , we would be taking a day trip to the rock.
Elizabeth If you get a chance, try a Caipirinha drink ... it's actually Brazil's national cocktail, but very well known in Spain and Portugal and it's yummy!!
