Today was embarkation day for our cruise, so we were able to sleep in a little longer. After checking out of our hotel we headed to the city centre. Sherry and Evelyn were interested in doing some shopping but unfortunately for them (happily for me) the area where we happened to find a parking spot didn't seem to have any decent stores nearby. So we decided it was time to go to the ship.
There were at least three different entrances to the port and the directions we received at the first two, mostly in Spanish, weren't particularly helpful, but we finally found the right one. Sherry and Ron stayed with the luggage at the terminal while Evelyn and I returned the car to Hertz at the nearby train station. We found the Hertz parking lot quite easily, but finding their office was another matter. Turns out it was inside the train station nearly a block away. We then took a cab back to the ship. The friendly cabbie wanted to practice his English with us and we had to chuckle because he thought we were husband and wife.
By around 1:30 we were aboard Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas (see
pic) and the next thing we knew it was time for dinner. We had requested a table for eight, but ended up being joined only by a couple from Massachusetts, who were also first time cruisers. It seems the majority of people on this ship are Spanish, with some Brits and Germans as well, but seemingly few Americans.
After dinner, Ron, Evelyn and I caught the last part of a magic show that had already started in the theatre, while Sherry went to bed early. She seems have picked up a cold somewhere along the way.

James Michals Too bad regarding Sherry's cold. I find the travel, airconditioning and exposure to lots of people in confined spaces make some viruses inevitable. Time for Haltenschnaps.(sp?.... a little help here, Elizabeth)
Elizabeth Sorry, Jim, never heard of "Haltenschnapps" ... not sure what you're referring to. I think plain old schnapps would do the trick! Sherry should have had some caipirinha like I recommended earlier.
