So to recap. I'd arrived in Singapore bang on time and had exactly 1 hour before my next flight was scheduled to depart. Would I make it on time or be stranded? Coming up later in this instalment, I reveal what happened.
As I'm sure you're all on tenterhooks, on the edge of your seat, fingernails bitten to the quick, I will, without further ado and unnecessary, tedious tension building, reveal the answer to the ultimate question: Did I make it in time?
I did. In a wonderfully boring and smooth operation, I was on board the next plane within 30 mins.
The flight to Melbourne took 7.5 hours, just over half of which was crossing Australia - yep it's a pretty big place!
On route, we were treated to a lovely chicken lunch, followed by more ice cream. Just before we arrived, tea was a lasagna.
I was too tired to make much progress with The Owl Killers, but still couldn't sleep, so iPod to the rescue.
Flying Air Singapore was a real pleasure, they really look after you, bringing round plenty of free drinks throughout the flights.
Despite having a couple of items that might have fallen foul of Australia's strict bio hazard rules, food and walking boots, I got waved through the red channel.
By the time I staggered across the 500 yards from the terminal building to the prestigious ibis Budget Hotel, I'd been awake for 29 hours and was well and truly ready for bed and a welcomed sleep.
PS, yes the photo is from Heathrow, but the silly blog requires a photo and I haven't got one for this leg, so this photo will do!
