The ibis Budget Hotel, as the name suggests, is very basic, but it provided me with exactly what I needed: a comfortable bed overnight and a good shower this morning.
After a refreshing night, this morning involved a bit more traveling as I headed back to the airport to pick up the shuttle bus to Ballarat, a journey of about 1.5 hours.
Ballarat gained its fortune due to gold, and the evidence is all around in the shape of Victorian colonial architecture. The hotspots for this are Lydiard Street and Sturt Street. And hotspots was a very apt description today as I bravely wandered around them in bright sunshine and searing heart in the mid 30s. But before you get too envious, a cold snap is forecast where temperatures may struggle to get past 25.
I'm a sucker for pancake, so having spotted The Pancake Kitchen in my earlier wanderings, I had no choice but to pop back in the evening for a potato, cheese and bacon pancake. As this was part of a meal deal, it would have been foolish, nay criminal, of me not to have a dessert considering of a chocolate pancake - that is one made with chocolate as opposed to one topped with chocolate - topped with maple sauce. Delicious! Now, can I resist popping back in the morning for breakfast?
Feeling suitably refreshed, I got back to the hotel in time to catch the thrilling match between Leyton Hewitt and Benjamin Becker. Hewitt started in a form which served as a reminder of him at his best as he dominated the first two sets. Then Becker turned it around in the third set. Hewitt couldn't regain his dominance and allowed Becker to triumph - the first time in his career he had won a match from being two sets down.

Dave Sounds all good so far. Did you get on the scales before you left? Lol. Take care. ~~~
