Hi!
So I finally have a break...I feel like I have less time off this year than last at the moment! I got a second cabin counselor in my bunk today though so my work load will finally be a bit less! Her name's India and she's lovely so I'm happy about it. I have 9 girls in my cabin and so far they seem quite a good bunk, they're all good friends and they haven't given me any reason to be too strict with them yet. I ahve two Laurens in the bunk, Madison, Alyssa, Alexa, Katherine, Jenny, Emily and Danielle. They're really loud girls but they're funny and we have a laugh. I know if I was given the chance though I would have taken younger kids over 10th grade any day. As much as they're nice girls I loved having the younger kids who took part in the activities more and were more enthusiastic! So I do miss that but my girls are lovely! The thing I don't like about 10th grade though is home difficult it is to get them to bed sometimes, they don't have lights out until 11pm which doesn't seem late but it is when you're tired! The day they got here we spent it unpacking which wasn't too stressful because 10th grade unpack for themselves. In the night we had a comedian come into camp who made loads of counselors get up on stage and embarrass themselves. The kids weren't too impressed but we loved it! Monday was our first full day at camp with the campers and it went well, we had dance, lake and volleyball. 10th grade also have 2 periods where they can choose their own activity and I was given the job of taking a few to golf...I've now come to realise I can not hit a golf ball to save my life! In the night we had a campfire on the beach and smores so that felt very camp like! Yesterday we visited a lake which should have been half an hour away but the bus driver took a wrong turn and it was over an hour...not so fun! We went tubing on the lake though which was SO much fun, I basically just screamed the whole time trying to hold on to the raft for dear life haha! The girls all took part for once which was nice. We just sat on the beach while each group went out tubing and the girls spent the whole morning trying to set me up with one of the lifeguards (I've never even spoken to him until that day!) because they think he's 'cute', they're not doing this with every guy on camp, it's getting kind of embarrassing but it's funny all the same haha. When we got back a rainstorm started so we had to spend all afternoon in the bunk. The kids spent this time straightening their hair only to go back out into the rain straight after...I miss the logic here! lol. Evening activity was Quest which is a game where they take a pillowcase full of random stuff from the bunk and a leader calls for an item and if your team has the item you run up to give it to them and get a point. They have counselor rounds too where they counselors have to run up and do stupid stuff, like I had to dance along to Grease Lightening, what a joy! haha.
Today we have soccer first so I've just taken my break, then we have lake and drama. I have my first night off tonight since the kids arrived so I've well excited! We're going for dinner in Panera and then visiting Walmart quickly before we head off to the bar. I'm taking advantage of my 12:30 curfew! Anyway I'd better go now, I'll write again soon and try and phone home at some point! Miss you all!
Love Hannah xxx
p.s. Also...I have no mail yet, come on people!!! haha it takes 2 weeks to get here so get writing!! And if you can send some dairy milk, I said to my kids I'd let them try some to show them what real chocolate is like!
