Hi!!
Well today is my 5th full day at camp and already it feels like I've been here weeks! It's only 7:30am here, I got up early because it means the internet isn't as slow because people aren't using it as much haha. Anyway, Wednesday night we were off so we all went to the local bar, this bar looks as though it can fit in about 40 people but we managed to fit the 120 Echo staff in it! It was really good because it was our first chance to talk to people away from camp and get to know them a bit better. I feel better about making friends now too, when we first got here it felt like people had already formed little friendship groups because activity staff and preseason staff had arrived so many weeks before. Hardly any one arrived on the Sunday I got here because they've lowered the numbers of cabin counselors this year (so our job is twice as hard!) We just about made curfew of 12:30 on Wednesday night because so many people were trying to get the shuttle back from the bar. The lady who owned the bar drove us back and I sat in the front with her. She had country radio on and that started a 15 minute conversation on the different country artists we like haha!
Yesterday we only had initiation talks in the morning and had a 'mystery trip' in the afternoon. All they told us was to wear long sleeves and trousers and when we got on the bus they told us we were going paint balling! I wasn't THAT happy about this, I'd heard it hurt a lot but I had to give it a go! It did hurt. haha I only stayed in for 2 games then sat out with the other people who had given in. I got to wear pretty snazzy overalls though which I've taken a photo of! In the night when we got back we had evening activity which was people performing acts about their home country. For England we had the Queen, Beatles and Spice Girls, the rush of sunbathers when the weather goes slightly warm, sport...probably some more things too! It was really good though and we're going to do it again for the campers when they get here.
Today we have a few more talks to go, they're all the same as last year really so we know it all but it's good to be reminded. Tonight we have a night off so quite a few of us have decided we need to make a repeat visit to Panera or Olive Garden for a meal...it's been 10 months after all!! We only have 2 days before the kids get here so I'm getting nervous now but I'm sure they'll be fine! I'm just looking forward to finding out what campers I have so I can ask other staff how good they are!
Anyway better go to flag raising now! Speak soon!

p.s. Yes!! The swim test was hard! I really want to retake it though because otherwise I can't kayak or canoe in the lake!! (Even though I have a lief jacket on so it's stupid!) Also I want to be able to go in water if we get to on our trip to Baltimore!
