19.06.10 NZ - The New Pad
We moved into our place on Wednesday 16th June and on the way I was so excited thinking it wasn't a moment too soon but after walking into the lounge and realising that opening the front door might warm the place up I was having second thoughts. It's took a few days but it's finally toasty and we've managed to make it look like home. We found a large shop called The Warehouse which is very similar to The Range except it also sells clothes, my kind of heaven!
The house is on the Frankton Road which is a long road that goes from Queenstown to…yes, Frankton! We're a bit far out of town now though, it's about an hour walk which is a bit of a pain but there's a regular bus that goes to town and the shopping park so you don't have to feel too sorry for me. When you come into the house Sam's room and the bathroom are on the ground floor, up the stairs is mine and Adam's and Paul and Ayumi's rooms, then some more stairs to the lounge and patio doors leading to the balcony with a view and then a final flight of stairs to the kitchen and dining area and a patio with bbq, table and chairs. The feeling of the house is lovely but there's not a lot of sun, for some reason it doesn't seem to rise in the east and set in the west here and if it does it certainly doesn't make it very high in the sky. The mountains just block the sun well, you can't have everything can you!
Not much else has really been going on, been boarding at Coronet and went to The Remarkables yesterday, these are the mountains we can see from our lounge. The Remarks are different to Coronet, bigger and better but a lot of park based stuff. The snow was pants yesterday as it was really slushy and Paul and Yumi went today and said it was really icy. They came back after 2 hours so I'm glad I didn't bother with that!
Adam is learning the play the guitar, the very patient Paul is trying to teach him so I'd appreciate any earplugs if anyone wants to send us a present! Annie and Al, we have found The Cow but are waiting for our first pay packet before we splash out.
Speak soon

Penny Hi both, good to hear from you this morning.Lots of love, Mumxxx
Annie & Al Hi Guys Think of you often and wondered how you were getting on. Just heard that snow in Queenstown is making it a little difficult to drive and the crown range road closed - cold and magical eh?! Have you been to the "Cow'" yet for a pizza and red wine? I still think Queenstown, winter, autumn and spring to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Can you send me your email address so that i can send you the odd email. Off to Beijing with Al on Sat, definitely hotter their, back 2nd July. We know Frankton Road well, are you in that big block of Grey units up on the right as you head into town? Cheers and enjoy Annie and Al xx
Annie & Al forgot: Yep even the sun rises in the East and sets in the West down here in little ol NZ, however Queenstown is facing South and any South facing site doesn't get much sun. I think that you have a hill to the left of you and of course the hill the gondola is on shades the sun late afternoon, stops at those pubs (Du delux) at around 4pm when there is some!! Hey drive around the other side towards Arrowtown on the back road past the jet boats - now that faces North and is beautiful. Just stay until spring and summer, beautiful all day. Annie
