This is our last day in Paris. The last few days we have celebrated Stelle's 20th birthday, visited the inside of Notre Dame, visited Invalides which is a war museum & also has sections dedicated to Napolean & Charles De Gaulle both who seem pretty famous in this part of the world & last night saw the ballet at Opera Garnier.
Estelle's birthday we had breakfast at a cafe in the beautiful Marais area & she then went off to see to the children. We then met up for lunch at a quirky little tea house & had a great meal.
John & I visited La Defence which is the modern business area of Paris, the size of the buildings is overwhelming.
We have had a couple of cold days, however yesterday was mild with blue skies which continued into the evening for our walk to the ballet. The Opera Garnier is a magnificent building & to just be in there was surreal. The ballet was mesmerizing! A spectacular two hour performance, our eyes didn't leave the stage. Every so often we just had to remind ourselves where we were.
A highlight of the trip & a wonderful memory. We had dinner at 1030 last night on the way home, something quite usual for the locals.
