Tuesday we went walking to the Latin Quarter to climb the Paris Pantheon. Estelle had recently climbed it & felt it gave the best view of Paris. When we arrived there was a notice to say the viewing area was closed for the winter as of Tues. Went for a stroll in the beautiful Luxembourg gardens. The autumn trees were just past their best however still a gorgeous spot.It was very strange when we first set off mid am Tues, the streets were empty. It was a bank holiday here, so we enjoyed not having the busy streets full of people to navigate. It started to rain at lunch time, so we met up with Estelle & went to the movies. Yes a strange thing to do in Paris but it was very relaxing & we are needing the odd quiet day!We saw the film The Help which was the most powerful film I've seen. A must for everyone when it comes to Australia!Yesterday we headed 50kms north of Paris to a place called Chantilly, to see the Chantilly Chateau. When we arrived the place was practically empty, so we spent hours wandering inside & outside feeling like we had the place to ourselves. This is very rare in this part of the world! The chateau was beautiful & very interesting, it had a library full of books from the 1300's through until the 1800's. We had a lovely day, the gardens were at their autumn best as you will see in the photos. This chateau is well worth a visit if you are in Paris sometime. It's small enough to not feel overwhelmed & holds quite different collections, as it is a personal collection of some chap from the 1600's.The weather was quite mild & fine so a great day to visit Chantilly.
