Another mild day. A local had said we are so lucky it is usually much cooler.
Estelle & I went to the Louvre only to find her secret side entrance closed today. She said she couldn't join the queue at the main entrance having always got in without queuing!
We decided to go to Musee D'Orsay instead. Great move, minimal queue, incredible building which was an old train station & some outstanding artwork & sculptures. Unfortunately it was not permitted to take photos of the artwork. Sneaked a couple of photos of the interior of the building.
John joined me later as Estelle had to leave to look after children.
We then had lunch in the gardens outside the Louvre. It's so wonderful to take the time to absorb the day to day life here & not be racing around trying to tick the tourist boxes. We know we are so lucky.
John & I then went to the Opera Garnier to line up for an hour to try & get tickets for the ballet Le Source which is on Wed night. We were successful which we didn't know until we got to the ticket window. Very excited & Estelle joining us.
Walking back we saw a dozen police vans head near the Opera. We realized there is some protest on. Further along the road closer to home another dozen vans with police lined up on the side of the road carrying machine guns. They are very proactive here, sort of makes you feel safe!
We wandered the back streets tonight & we keep seeing new sights. Another day to pinch ourselves that we are here & loving a snipet of Paris life.
