We have enjoyed a couple of days wandering through the Marais & St Germain Des Pres areas with their cafes, churches, parks & shops.
It's great just sitting in the parks & imagining that for a short time you live there! Estelle has been able to do this for the past 6mths.
Thursday we had afternoon tea at the famous Angelinas. We also visited Lafayette which is a famous store with an amazing interior. No purchases but worth a look at the interior.
Yesterday we walked many many km's around the areas mentioned, then off to catch up with Estelle in St Maurice which is where she lives. The photo which looks like a castle is not far from her area. One of the homes of one of the Louis.
We were still wandering in the evening so went to the top of the Arc de Triomphe for the night view. We hadn't imagined we would do this as we thought the weather would be so cold this time in Paris. Again we have had quite mild weather & yesterday was a beautiful day & quite mild in the evening. 284 steps to the top which was worth the effort. It was entertaining from the top watching the traffic below.
There were also some fireworks down the Champs-Elysees which were an unexpected surprise.
Finally the lights which sparkle on the Eiffel Tower on the hour were the icing on the cake!
We wandered back down the Champs-Elysees on our way back to our apartment. People are still out everywhere enjoying the evenings as they were when we were here in Sept.
