Hello. So first full day, after a late start I decided to just 'test the waters' with a simple trip to Jim thompsons house. Went along the skytrain (very efficient). Wondered around a bit trying to find it as it was down a little road. Went for the tour where we were told about his collections and how he was one of the first to attatch bedroom, living room, kitchen etc together as traditionally it would all be separate buildings. He had huge collection of porcelain and coming from the potteries I kept an eye out for doulton, wedgewood etc - there wasn't any (he only had 16th C Chinese antiquities - pah). Thompson went mysteriously missing in Malaysia 1967 and so purchased 'ye olde worldy' postcard that had him Photoshopped sitting on the skytrain stating 'He's Back!' (good Thai humour). Had Tom yum goong and my first beer in Thailand. It was good but not very spicy.
Decided to head back to the ranch and cool off. Had a few Changs at hotel etc. Found out there was a night food market on Soi 38 few stops on the BTS. Headed over but there was only 15 odd stalls. Had a spicy pork dish (needed the mango juice as the spice got the blood flowing). Went back to On Nut station and ended up in a even bigger night market located on tesco car park! Loads of food, shops, bars and a guy with a guitar singing cover songs in Thai - and all this was on the doorstep of my hotel.
Met an oz and an American living in puerto rico - had a natter about the policing of drugs, film directors etc and a few too many changs. Tomorrow I'm off to do the Wat's and palaces. Whoop

anna I went along to Jim Thompsons House, thanks for the memory, it is beautiful, I remember thinking that I wouldn't mind living in a house like this. Where did he disappear too? Does anybody know?
