Day 60
Drove out to Exit Glacier in Kenai Fiords National Park. Hiked about 2 1/2 miles to the edge of the glacier. Beautiful, even in the rain and wind. Our rain gear is really coming in handy. Thankfully my knee is much better. Good enough for a short hike, anyway.
On the way out of the park, we stopped along Resurrection River to view 3 bald eagles on a bit of land in the middle of the river, sharing a salmon meal. In the next several minutes, we saw four more eagles fly onto the spot and they took turns at that salmon. Everyone seemed to get along nicely. There were 2 adult eagles and four juveniles. A raven flew in to join them but they just ignored him until he flew away. No free lunch for raven, I guess.
We next checked out the visitor center, then we drove around town hunting murals to photograph. 19 murals have been painted in the last several years here in Seward. Just beautiful!
Feeling like a rest, we spent a few hours in the library, using their wifi.
We sat in comfy chairs, with our feet propped up, and had a fantastic view of Resurrection Bay and the surrounding mountains through the huge wall of windows in the library. The weather alternated between rain showers, and the sun peeking out of big white fluffy clouds. So relaxing and peaceful. Another great library in Alaska.
