Hi readers its my job to try to tell you about a day in the life of us cruisers without boring you to tears, it was such a buzz i could (and probably will talk for hours about it).
Let me start by explaining the layout of the ship, it had 11 decks with the top only a partial deck mainly for a disco/kareoke lounge (more about that later), deck 10 was a fitness walk track for all those made people that forgot they were on a holiday, there was also a climbing wall. mini golf and sun beds to rest on, Deck 9 was a pool deck with one open and one enclosed pool with hot tubs (as our american friends would call them), also the casual dinning facility known as Windjammer cafe, Deck 8 was the bridge plus an internet suite and library with a few exclusive accommodation options, Deck 7 was accommodation as was 6 (our deck) plus a small coffee shop and photo gallery, Deck 5 was the upper level of the fine dining lounge Romeo & Juliet plus a music lounge called Anchors aweigh and some shops, tour desk and purser, Deck 4 was the lower fine dining area plus Casino, smokey bar and 800 seat theatre, Deck 2 and 3 was for the lower pauper accommodation and crew, with Deck 1 for tender and wharf exit.
OK our days would vary slightly if we were in port or at sea, a day in port started early with 6am wakeup and breaky in time for tour starts from 7.30 - 8am (one started 7am!!!), off the ship for a day in a coach/walk/ferry always waiting for someone who would be late back after a toilet (comfort) stop. Back to the ship 5 - 5.45pm in time to set sail 5.30 - 6.30 most days. This made for a rush shower (mainly areosol) before dinner seating at 6. Then the nights fun would start with our new friends, dinner finished 7.30, maybe shop or wander until 8.15 when we would meet in the theatre for a drinl before the show at 9pm. Shows went till 9.45, then we would off to the anchors aweigh for a fun time with Name that tune or similar fun till say 11, then ,maybe Kareoke if it was on till midnight or 12.30, finally stopping about 1am to bed ready for another 6am start. No wonder we were stuffed by the end!!! The sailing days gave some relief as we could sleep in till 9 or 10, then after a leisurley breky have fun arond the pool or mini golf before morning tea, then lunch, then nanna nap, then 6pm tea. Most sailing nights though more relaxed were fairly tireing spending days in the sun, so we usually hit the hay around 10ish.
We had a fantastic time and it was really a holiday within a holiday.
I am going to stop thie blogg now as you are probably bored silly, but will do a seperate one to talk about the fun activities we got up too including Kreoke!!!
