We thought it was about time to add our first real blog on our adventure.
The flight over was unremarkable except for very long and boring. Arrived in London on time and was at our hotel by 9pm after catching the train from the airport.
Spent the next day getting our bearings and going up on the London eye to see the bird's eye view of the city. We managed to fing most of the lanmarks on the way round and were lucky not to have queued at all.
We saw the changing of the horseguard parade at Whitehall and wondered the streets for a while before going back to the hotel for a rest.
Went to Harrods in the evening for a bit of retail therapy and to my delight Christmas World was open and I had great difficulty choosing which ones to buy!!!!
After having dinner we went back to our hotel and waited for our friends The Wolseys and The Finks, to arrive from Perth as they were staying in the same hotel as us. We were disgusted when they did arrive and told us they were upgraded to first clas all the way through!!!! Why does that never happen to us????
Tuesday we all went on the Hop on Hop off bus and had a great day seeing all the usual sites. We climbed to the top of St Paul's Cathedral, a major feat for me!!!!, and was amazed of the view we had from there. The inside of the church was also breathtaking.
Wednesday we were on an all day tour to Bath, Salsbury and Stonehenge.
The Roman Baths were great and it blows my mind to think how long they have been there and you could really imagine the Romans laying around the baths all those years ago. Salsbury was just as beautiful a city as Bath and the Cathedral was magnificant. Stonehenge....well been there done that......not my thing but glad I have been. Really is just alot of rocks in a paddock!!!!!!
Today we had delightful day with Aunty Ann and Uncle Mick, and they drove us around showing Martin all the houses he lived in while he was a pomme, and also his old school. Went to South end on Sea and walked along the pier to the end, but trained back.
Tomorrow is our last day in London and we plan to go Tower of London and an appointment with the Queen!!!!!
We will update next from Paris. Hope you are all well. XXXXX
