We arrived in Roma today, but first we will finish our account of Paris.
After a fantastic day of going to the top of the Eiffel tower on Sunday we had a slow start to the day and ambled into the city late morning. We had our usual bagette for breakfast and found our way to the Louvre via the metro which in fact stopped right in the Louvre. Of course we found the Mona Lisa and then wandered around for another couple of hours, checking out all the exhibits. Naploeons apartments for particularly amazing....such decadence!!!!!!
We got back onto the hop on hop off bus and went to NotreDame....didnt go to the top as we were having a lazy day and not even sure it was open. Martin tried his first banana crepe and was rather impressed, not sure if it was quite as good as the pastries from the bakeries which are on every corner. Mart found them quite irresistable but rationed himself to one a day!!!! After a ful lap of the city we made our way home and after a short rest went out for a dinner cruise along the seinne which was marvellous.
Wednesday saw us up earky and off to do our bike tour to Versaille. Getting out of the city was the hardest part of the day as we had to get our bikes onto the public train before the doors closed on us and the trains were full of peak hour workers. To say we got a few cross looks would be an understaement, but we made it and then relaxed for 25mins till we arrived at Versaille. Brfore reaching the Chateux, we stopped at the local market and bought. cheese, meats. olives and bagettes for lunch which was a cool experience. The Chateux was incredibly decadent and the history behind it interesting!!! Our tour guide was great fun and was very helpful getting us about and keeping us safe. We arrived back in the city exhausted but pleased with the day we had enjoyed. <on the way home we stopped at Starbucks for a photo and coffee of course as I have this thing aout visiting a Starbucks in each city. Got a quick meal on the way home and dropped into bed shattered with the knowlrdge we had to be up at 4.30am to catch our flight to Rome.
All in all we loved Paris and would definitely got back to visit again.
BTW Bec we did go to the Sacre Coure a couple of times and loved hanging out there with the young people and their music blaring out and with them all singing and enjoying themselves. Thanks for that.
Rome is today, but we will catch you up to date with that when we do some more things tomorrow. The location of our hotel is good with a internet cafe close and so will try to get some more photos on as well although we are finding this a little tricky as the computers are slow and not always english friendly.
Miss you all heaps but enjoying ourselves at the same time.
