We started the morning off by walking around Rome. We headed to S. Maria in Trastevere. It was a church Amanda and I had already checked out but it is beautiful and a very nice walk to it. After visiting it we headed off on a more scenic route. Dad's GPS lead us up steep hills and forever stairs but, it was worth it. We ended up in a park that is on the top of a hill, Parco Gianicolense, giving us an amazing view of Rome. You could see all the major sights and it was a beautiful warm morning. But of course we forgot the camera so, you will just have to take our word for how amazing of a view it was.
After we headed back to the hotel to get our bags and make our way to the airport to pick up the car. We were suppose to get a Alpha Romio but, had to accept a Mercedes compact SUV. We then headed down to Civitavecchia, the port town we would be catching the ferry to Barcelona. We spent a couple hours wondering around the town and then stopping for supper. The real adventure of the day started once we got back in the car to make our way to the ferry. First of, we missed a turn and ended up on a highway. After taking ever turn out of that area, we finally made it back to the port. Once we got to the correct pier, we found ourselves at the back of a long line of cars. We sat there for awhile until a man in a neon suit who spoke little English yelled tabus to move our vehicle. Of course he didn't inform us of were we needed to move to. So very confused we sat at another pie for half an hour waiting for them to start loading the ferry. Thanks to mom's quick thinking we managed to cut into the back of the line of cars before they started to load the semi-trucks. Needless to say, it was very stressful and we are now happy to be relaxing in our cabin, drinking lots of wine.
