Vanessa and Carole arrived here last week and have been keeping me entertained following Claire's departure - i was practically forced into a "Martini and Manicure" bar on Thursday night, and then they were both the cause of my downfall on Friday.
Much to the amusement of Brendan, the Irish guy in our dorm, I came staggering in in the early hours of Saturday, knocked over a cup of tea (which Carole was guilty of leaving there) and tried to convince everyone to stay up drinking. They were not impressed. I would like to say they share the blame with the people from my work who encouraged me to start knocking back shots with them a little after 4pm in the afternoon....
So with the massivest hang over in the world i dragged myself to Palm Beach on Sat with Maddy. This is otherwise known as the setting of 'Home & Away' and was really stunning, better than it looks in the programme. I got knocked overr by a few more waves than usual due mainly to my complete lack of coordination and took great delight in finding a surf rescue van. Spent a lovely day basking in the 37 degree heat and then watched the sun set, such a romantic moment....
Weather has turned now and just when i was starting to think this was an amazing city the heavens opened and i spent the day wandering round an art gallery looking like a homeless person/drowned rat and being freezing cold. So much for trying to be cultural....next time i will spend the day watching films!!
Quit the paintballing job after 1 day as it was rubbish and i made the grand total of 0 (!!!) sales, making not even a cent. Fortunately i met a guy at breakfast in my hostel who had a great job and he put me in touch with his boss and so i now i am working as an Investor relations assistant, basically contacting shareholders of companies so it's pretty interesting and even something relevant to my studies.
Plan to be in Sydney til 17th Nov then spend the remainder of my time wizzing up the east coast til i fly to India on 1st dec.
