It's been a really long time since my last postcard but i am safe and well (so don't worry mum!) and i have changed into a gorgeous tanned beach babe, at a stratch of the imagination at least!
I left Sydney a few weeks ago and headed up to Brisbane where i stayed with Cheryl and Richard. Saw the city during the day and then Lucy took me out for a wild night in Surfer's Paradise....it was quite possiblythe strangest night of my whole trip as the place was filled with 'Schoolies' (those happy Ozzie 17 yr olds who have just left school but are too young to get into the pubs...). Anyway, it didnt take me long to discover that the parties on the beach were actually wicked fun and i had a good night there partying away. The next day we all went to the beach and i met some more family members.
Next stop on my east coast journey was Hervey Bay for a 4x4 Jepp sfari around Fraser Island. It was the best fun i've had in years driving over the largest sand island in the world. Despite a flat tyre and numerous other mishaps we managed to cook for ourselves and the group was so much fun we sat up most of the night playing drinking games and staggerring along the beach watching the shooting stars.
I was pretty gutted to leave my group behind (especially 2 Irish Policemen that have promised me free accomodation in Dublin anytime!) and then i set off up the east coast another 12 hours to Airlie Beach. Bumped into a couple of girls from Law School - Maddy Healey and Jo Stevens...they were not staying in the same skanky accomodation as me, lucky them! Then i have spent the past 3 days on board the SV Whitehaven sailing around the Whitsundays which were absolutely gorgeous. I snorkelled 3 times on the Great Barrier Reef and saw Nemo, Dori and even swam alongside human sized turtles which was incredible. We spent part of day 2 on Whitehaven beach which has been voted one of the best beaches in the world....and it really was stunning. A few chavvy English girls on board the boat didnt spoil the trip at all and once again plenty of goon was consumed!
On to India on Friday where i will be spending a few days in Mumbai before flying down to Goa to do more sunbathing (it's a hard life...) with Helen!
Next instalment coming soon x
