I am feeling that the website has been a little neglected of late so it is time to fill you all in on the latest adventures from the other sie of the world!
We flew to Sydney from Melbourne on Monday, with Dobbin hot on our tails two hours later and checked into the Pink House, as recommended by Alex of Cusco fame. Sadly the thought that all fit men would follow the same hostel trail around the world was found not to be the case as our hostel is full of ugly germans and a wierd Canadian guy who asked claire if she was a bird cos her portion of dinner was smaller than ours. Very odd.
I have been looking for a job since arriving in Sydney, which has led me on several wild goose chases around the city and included a trip to a 'booking office' in Bondi which i am convinced is some kind of brothel service as it was based in someone's house, ran by a very butch looking woman who wore a dog chain and involved organising 'cleaners' to go to people's houses. Not suprisingly, i didnt get offered the job, probably due to the horrifed look on my face the whole way though the interview! Instead i have found some work today for the Ministry of Paintball doing promotions so going to see how that goes....
We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of vanessa and carole tomorrow, but with that comes Claire's departure back to the UK on saturday which will be very strange for me!! Dobbin has headed on up the coast this morning with a friend in a hire car so he may never be seen again (especially if they head towards the outback which isnt covered on the insurance apparently!).
We have really enjoyed our first few days here in Sydney, spent hours and hours doing the walking tour of the city which was really good but it was a properly long work out. On Wednesday night we decided to be very grown up and got tickets for the Opera at Sydney opera house....of course, as backpackers we went for the cheapest tickets possible which meant that we couldnt see half of the stage for the first 2 acts but then we decided to be sneaky and moved to the $220 seats at the front (with full clear view of the stage!) for the last act! Brilliant experience, even if we were the most scruffily dressed people in there!
Claire has done the Bridge climb over Sydney Harbour bridge which she says is absolutely amazing, so i will have to find the time to fit that in before i leave sydney and she has gone for a surfing lesson today at Bondi beach so i am heading down there now to see if i can see her in action!
Anyway, thats enough news for now, ive got beaches to hit and sea to swim in (and did i meantion it is lovely and hot over here?!?!?). Till the next instalment.... xx
