Just outside Siem Reap there is another place worth a visit - Silk Farm that turned out to be much more interesting than expected. I had no idea what so ever how silk is made and I was greatly impressed. It definitely sums up why silk costs so much. The amount of work is hard to comprehend. There is also a shop that sells all that is made of silk and much cheaper that you'd expect.
Same afternoon we made our way towards the lake and took a boat to see the Floating Village. It is important to know that the boat ride does not cost more than few dollars but if you arrive without a local guide, they will try and charge you up to ten times more.
The village itself was something unimaginable. All the buildings in the village are on the water and literally floating. And the local life is so far from what we know. Kids floating in bowls with snakes wrapped around their necks, families chasing tourist boats to ask for a dollar, mums feeding kids in their boats, a massive bunch of crocodiles having an afternoon nap...
It is worth going in the afternoon because then you can watch a beautiful sun set into the lake.
Definitely a day to remember!
