While visiting temples, I stayed in a nice hotel with swimming pool in Siem Reap that was booked by the camp manager. After all the hard work in the camp this is a real opportunity to relax and enjoy the most of Siep Reap's night life!
Five minutes or 2 dollars tuk tuk ride from the hotel there is a famous night market that is separated by the river and connected by two beautiful bridges. So I managed to get all my souvenirs on my way to the pub, which I think is great! You can get anything from bracelets, necklaces, scarfs, "Ray Bans" (which by the way are made so much better than the ones I found in Italy!), beats by dre headphones (
), hammocks, clothes, shoes, watches to food and spices. There are also lots of places offering massages as cheap as chips! And of course fish pedicure. Although I wasn't too keen on that...
Anyway, once all the souvenirs are sorted, it is time to party!! And Pub Street in Siem Reap must be the best place for that if you are looking for a western kind of fun - loud pop music and loads of alcohol. Even though I normally moan about places like that (especially places like that in a country like that), my batteries needed recharging. Without doubt, one of the most famous pubs in Siem Reap is Angkor What?. They sell cocktails in buckets and compete with the pub in front to see who plays the music louder. This definitely takes you away from the reality and once the bucket is empty there is always a tuk tuk to take you back to the hotel.
What more can you want before a day trekking in a jungle?
