The camp is set up in the local community and is managing continuous projects that guarantee life changing experiences for you and for local people. When after the project you come back home, you are a changed person. It gives a new insight in life that allows to appreciate things that we normally take for granted, be happy for little things, and proudly tell everyone your story. It really helps when looking for a job or trying to impress friends. Oh and also you bring back a beautiful tan and a million of handmade bracelets.
When I was there a bunch of gap year students were building a new classroom. It is great to do something tangible like that with your own hands and see it changing every day and most importantly see the end result! It makes you proud and kind of powerful building something so important for those little kids who are running around you. There is still plenty of work to be done and a number of projects are waiting for people who are eager to really make a difference. I am even able to give the whole list of already completed and future projects. Just to be precise
· Water tank restoration for school - done
· Ancient reservoir restoration - done
· Old community admin office expanse - done
· Painting the classroom
· Classroom restoration
· School Kitchen
· Library
· School admin office
· Long distant teachers' accommodation in the school
· New classroom
· Community Hall
· Health Care Center
· Restoring houses for poor families in the community
So what are you waiting for? There is a lot of work to be done! Go on, make that difference http://www.statravel.co.uk/tours-and-treks/Asia-&-Middle-East/Camp-Cambodia-(2013)-1-STA_famz9
