Tuesday sept 6th
Tuesday is here, one more week before we head back home. Next tuesday we will be on our way back to Toronto, now less than a week in Beirut, strangely, I don't feel home sick yet, at least not too much. Of course I can't take the driving, or the infinite personal question that the neighbours or complete stranger ask just because it's casual talk and they have the right to invade your privacy, the armed cars convoy of the beyk and the beyk's entourage that can immobilize a whole highway with their sirens and police lights just because they are VIP, the changing lanes without any signal, the stopping in the middle of the road for no reason just to give you the look through the visor, the special treatment that everyone is seeking just because they are above everyone and all, the line up when you're the only one who thinks there is one, the nagging that life in Beirut is a struggle because the population will never change, while the person nagging is part of the problem and refuses to be part of the change... Yes! I feel homesick! It's a love and hate relation, Beirut ya Beirut!
Today we accomplished quite a program, suits shopping for Rob in the morning, lunch in downtown at El Tabkha, the Bain Militaire swimming club in kaslik in the afternoon, then kleat after to spend the evening up in the mountain with Nate and Rob and to top it with dinner at Le Relais with all the family, our childhood restaurant from the times we were teens...
