We woke up early to drive to timber creek early because the time went forward an hour and a half. We are staying at timber creek for 1 night to fish for barramundi in the afternoon. On the way we stopped at gregorys tree. Gregorys tree is a boab tree with the arrival date of Augustus Gregory's arrival in timber creek. He arrived in timber creek in 1856. The town got its name because Gregory used the local timber to fix his ship. He was a european explorer. In Broome we heard about a guy named Dwayne who could take us barramundi fishing. The locals call him the barra whisperer. We drove down at 2:00 as the afternoon was the best time. Dwayne showed us his secret spot. We fished for about an hour with no bites but had a couple follow the lure in. Not long after dad got a big hit and he was on. It was about a minute before dad got him in. It was a 78cm barra. Dad was stoked. We didn't get anymore hits for the rest of the day. While we were fishing mum and Isabelle went to watch the feeding of the freshwater crocs. We came home and had a fire to cook the barra on. Dwayne came down to talk with some other neighbours. And we enjoyed dads barra over the fire with Aunty Sara's potato recipe in foil! We had Dixie cups for dessert. It was a great day.
