Finally came in to Kuala Lumpur for a bit of a walk around.
The weather was quite good, quite a bit of sun, rather warm, but not unbearable. I think it's been a bit cooler due to the fact that we've had a bit of rain (or torrential downpours!) of late.
Stopped off at a place called Old Town White Coffee for a bite to eat. However, due to the excessive amounts of food I've been consuming lately, I decided to have something light and opted for the French Toast and gave a Root Beer Float a try.
The French Toast consisted of two really big slices of bread which had been dipped in egg, buttered with peanut butter, slapped together and fried. Quite a new experience for me.
The Root Beer Float was really yummy and quite addictive ;-)
After we wandered around The Pavillion Mall for a bit. The mall was really great, and along with all the usual stores, like Salvatore Ferragamo, Esprit, Paul Frank, Gucci and others, there were a load of other stores that we don't get anywhere else that we wandered through and explored.
The mall was massive with an amazing Chinese New Year's display with cherry blossom trees, lanterns and an amazing snaking dragon.
Outside the entrance of the mall was a fountain surrounded by statues of bears with various markings on them depicting the various nations of the world.
Something similar was installed around London in 2010, except they used elephants.
After taking a number of photos and finishing our wandering around, we headed home.
Shortly after 6pm I though I'd take a nap, only to be woken shortly before 12am for dinner, which comprised of a steam boat.
This is basically a broth, with either chicken, vegetable or beef stock, into which you drop your meat and vegetable and cool it before consuming it.
The only thing is that everyone puts all their food into the same pot and let's it cook, picking out what they want as they go along.
I'm not entirely sure what I ate ;-) ... but it was great! Really enjoyed it all.
I then retired to the room and played a PS3 game called "Fairytale Fights" in which you get to play Red Riding Hood, Snow White, The Emperor and a handful of other Fairytale characters and where you have cause as much death and mayhem as possible while stealing as much money and jewels in the process.
Not as easy as it seems but I got quite a kick out of running around hacking Fairytale characters with a sword or saw or other similar object ;-)
I eventually retired around 4:30am so I could "get up early" to visit the Petronas Towers in the City.
Looks like we're leaving for Bangkok on Saturday at 6am and not at 10pm as previously discussed.
Looks like I'll be hitting the ground running when we arrive, which is great!
Hope to be able to update y'all while I'm in Thailand, if not, I'll post my musings when I return to Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.
Chat soon,
Michael
