We were flying over the Andaman Sea off the coast of Thailand making our way to Kuala Lumpur earlier, see the attached pic ;-)
The flight was good and I am thankful to Coleen (of Air Italia) for having arranged me a seat with enough leg room for me to stretch out ;-)
The meals have been really good! Had a Chicken Briyani for Dinner/Breakfast (depending on which time zone you're working in ...) and had a succulent Beef Curry for Lunch! Yummy!!!
Managed to catch "Colombiana" now too. Enjoyed the movie ...
The total distance to Kuala Lumpur is 11,016km, we were cruising at a speed of 945 km/h having reached a maximum of 1,009 km/h at an altitude is 11,279m!! This was achieved, in part, by a tail wind of 115 km/, which eventually got up to 230 km/h!!!
At once stage over Europe, the outside temperature reached -24°C! Eek!!!
Since departure from London, we flew over/through The Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Georgia, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, The Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and eventually touching down in Kuala Lumpur.
It was amazing to see The Netherlands, Germany and Poland all lit up before I dozed off for a few hours. I eventually woke up somewhere over India before we started our journey down over The Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea.
We were expected to land at 6:40pm, however we landed 41mins earlier than expected, at 5:59pm instead.
This is quite impressive considering we slowed down quite considerably to a speed of 540km/h due to a rather strong head wind, then got back up to about 856 km/h.
Will update you on my impressions of Kuala Lumpur and hope to include a few pics along with those impressions too.
'Til next time ...
Ciao,
Michael
