Little note, please excuse my poor english when reading this, i am writing it on my ipod so the keyboard is very small and most of the time i am writing it on the bus, when it is zooming up and down mountains!!!
After the "speed boat" journey, we arrived in Manaus 8 hours later than planned after one of the motors broke halfway! Not so speedy with half the power but we made it, and we were all very happy to get off. The boat only had seating, if you can call it seating, mucho uncomfortable, and a small standing area at the back... will happily forget that part of the trip.
8 of us all piled into a combi van and made our way to the hostel. The next few days were spent relaxing and enjoying the comfort of beds again! We nearly went on a trek but they were crafty with how they explained the prices and when we just about to pay they doubled it!!! No way, Jose... supposedly we can do the same trek in Bolvia or Peru for half the price. We had a walk around the centre one day and one night we walked for ages, with a big group including locals so all very safe, to a samba night club... still not so hot on the dancing, despite my Colombian friend Heidi trying to teach me, she has some moves! But I just don't have hips for samba I suppose, I'll keep trying
On the 29th we hit the road for longest trip known to mankind, from Manaus to Merida via Puerto de Cruz. It was this bus trip or another 6 days on a boat and then a flight... decisions, so we "Agarrar el toro por los cuernos" ( took the bull by the horns) and decided to choose the bus, it gives us more days to see more places. We left a lot of friends behind, of which one or two I will miss a lot! Fingers crossed we will meet again
