Last hour of the journey to Jeri is taken by 4x4 truck along dusty lanes and then eventually the beach, because Jeri is so off the beaten track and there are no big city lights, smog etc, the night sky is like nothing I have seen before.. so many stars across the sky, mesmerising. Happy time!
Arrive at our Guest house, which is owned by a crazy old lady, she tells us that tonight is samba night so we head straight out. Bump into Hendrick from Salvador and go to the beach bar with his hostel friends for a night of trying to samba!
Next day we walk around the village, doesn't take long as it's only 5 streets wide! All the streets are sandy, no concrete to be seen. Head to the big sand dune to catch the sunset, walk up to the top which is about 20 metres high and take a seat... clouds roll in and ruins the sunset! Next time... Evening starts off with a double round of the drinking game, ring of fire, with our new crew of brazilians, ozzies, germans and English.. then hop over to a Foho (type of dance) club for more hip shaking and feet shuffling! Managed to strike a conversation with a local, which was nice, Esreya I think her name was. Could have been the one!
Late night so Sunday is a lazy one, how very English of us.
Monday we take a jeep to a lagoon, aga de paradiso, played volleyball, took a swim, drank some beerski's and ate some cheese... which is a kind of meat don't you know! Nick will explain!
Head back and get dropped off at 'the rock' which is a rock with a hole in the middle where in June the sun sets exactly in the middle, so as it is January we dont bother waiting for the sunset and troop over the hills back home.
Early start in the morning so an earlyish night..
