We are having a rest day today - we have both developed sore throats and general feelings of lethargy and ennui so doing nothing much should help. (Hmm - using french words huh? probably because there are so many Frenchies living at this 'otel at present - wearing Berets, drinking all the black coffee and reading John Paul Sarte).
We did actually go out this morning to try to get some Rupees out of the local ATM's - no luck though. The annual Dasain (or Durga Puja) is on at present and many shops etc are closed for a couple of days. It may be that no-one has topped up the ATM's & that's why no dough comes out of the wall. It sounds silly but it's likely to be true.
Tomorrow morning we head off by Bus to Pokhara, 200klm to the west. This is (was?) a lovely town built around a large lake & we are keen to get there. The bus trip is supposed to take about 6 hours (although it took 10 hrs when Ken did the same trip all those years ago).
I'll post some photo's of Pokhara & the lake from '91 & '93 in an 'album' cleverly called "Pokhara 1991 & 1993" - it will be interesting maybe to compare those shots to some new ones we take over the next few days.

Allen "Your mother was a hampster and your father smelt of elderberries!" *Awkward pause* "Is there someone else up there we can speak to?"
