Day 28: It's Mothers Day. What a way to spend it! With my family, in beautiful surrounds in the Kimberley. Excellent.
A nice bush shower after a warm night, starts the day off well. A bit of morning fishing...with no success...and a chat to my parents before they head off on their trip on the Trans-Siberian Railway.
We take the kids fishing further up the Fitzroy River and Riley lands a nice eating-size Mangrove Jack.
It is much cooler today (around 35•C), with a nice breeze and only 51% humidity.
Of course we can't swim here, which is a bummer for the kids, as the water is so enticing, but it's not worth the risk. Of course Darcy thinks he'd be quick enough, but the water is a no-go zone for the boys, particularly Riley. Fortunately where we fish is up on a high bank, so we are well away from the water.
Tonight we get eaten alive by mozzies! They are bad. We smother ourselves in repellent, both homemade and aerosol. But I fear to no avail. Fortunately a wind comes up and they ease off a bit.
It's been great camping with other people, and Anne and Bruce are lovely. You don't realise how much you miss people's company until you're sitting around a campfire sharing your story.
