Day 65: Powerhouse Museum and Qantas Founders Museum. We are reluctant to get out of bed this morning, as it is cold, cold, cold! Day 64: Winton delivers us another cold morning as we pack up and head to Longreach. It's 180+km drive, and we pass the same dry, desolate pastureland of the last few days. We also see a lot more roadkill, which of course is mainly kangaroos, but also sheep. When we get to the outskirts of Longreach, we checkout the Rest Area, but decide to stay in town. Day 63: Dinosaur Stampede at Lark Quarry Conservation Park and Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum. At 7am we are up and ready to drive the 110kms of dirt road, to the Dinosaur Stampede. The 3300 footprints are housed in a purpose-built building, to protect them from the elements and people. It's quite new and very environmentally friendly. Day 62: It's freezing this morning! We have slept all night with the heater on, as it was so cold. It's a shock to the system, and hard to believe after having enjoyed such beautiful hot weather only earlier this week! Day 61: The drive to McKinlay is another big one, but we break it up with a stop in Mt Isa. We grab some groceries and stop in at the Information Centre.
