Day 70: Today is Riley's 5th birthday! The boys, Craig and I, decorated the van last night, so he would wake up to a festive caravan. The first words out of Riley's mouth this morning..."Morning. Is it my birthday?" We get straight into birthday mode with opening of the presents. Picture this: the five of us, in our pjs, sitting outside of a caravan, on the side of a road, watching a little boy open presents...only in Queensland! After all the wild unwrapping, ...

Day 69: After a lovely bacon and egg muffin courtesy of the Duaringa Lioness', we get back on the road. We drive the 70+kms to Rockhampton, and stop at the Tourist Info to get our bearings...it's weird being back in a city. Craig suggests we go to the movies with the boys, and then do our groceries, so we all get a dose of Despicable Me 2. As we do the grocery shopping, Craig and I realise how confronting the noise and the consumerism is...and our senses can'...

Day 68: A sad morning for the boys today. They don't want to leave Longreach, and now it's right up there as #1! We get on the road by 9am, as we have a big day of driving a head of us. We are hoping to get as close to Rockhampton as possible. After a few hours, the landscape starts to change significantly, and we start to see trees and pasture, and green again. We pass through Emerald, a big town and then reach the tiny little town of Duaringa...much more to ...

Day 67: Kinnon & Co. Cobb & Co. stage coach ride, Harry Redford Tent Show and Thomson River Cruise & Light Show Spectacular. A cold, miserable morning greets us, as we walk to the main street of Longreach, for our morning tea and stage coach ride. It's unfortunate that the weather is overcast, as Craig, Darcy, Riley and I are up top, at the back of the coach...and it's bloody freezing! Day 66: Longreach School of Distance Education (LSODE) and Stockmans Hall of Fame. Another early start sees us at the School of the Air. We are given a tour of the facility, and shown how the teacher interacts with the child over the radio and the Internet. Afterwards, we head to the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame for an 11am show. We are treated to a show depicting the life of a stockman, with plenty of sideshow gags. It was a lot of fun.
