So a 7 hour flight was made significantly easier by the ample leg room, courtesy pillow and blanket, and tv mounted on the seat in front which had movies/series/games on demand.
-----
I started with The Hunger Games, followed by some street fighter 2(epic!!!) and finished off with some battleship! All in all the time passed reasonably quickly!
-----
Getting off the plane I was greeted with the same wave of heat that you get when you open an oven in to your face! Though unlike that scenario I wasn't able to step away from the heat! Going from 12c back home to 40c was quite the experience!
-----
After getting my bag and having an altercation with an ATM I proceeded to attempt to get the bus. Of course this was after I ran the taxi driver slalom! I mean I might as well have been carrying a massive neon sign 'ask me if I need a taxi, go on!' I even had one particularly persistent p****who literally followed me around the airport, even waited for me to come out of the toilet just to ask me for the forth time if I wanted a taxi!!!!
-----
In the end it might have been better if I had just given in because the bus that was on the official website has been discontinued, and I would still be sitting at the airport if it wasn't for some filipino bird seeing me looking helpless and then having me sit beside her on the bus. Of course because it was a different bus it left me no where near my hotel, and because I had thought it was going to be a straightforward process, I had no map. Needless to say after some wandering and some asking I rock up at the hotel some 45mins later after trailing my sweaty being as well as my ruck sack through Abu Dhabi!

This is only day 1, ha.

Ali Rawashdeh Ah yes, the good old "wall of scorchio" that greets you off the plane - shorty followed by a breath of humid air :-) dread to think how toasted you must have been after that 45-minute walk lol Sounds like fun though, Enjoy! PS make sure you buy a chocolate bar there. The experience of buying a chocolate bar, walking outside and it's already melted - unforgettable!
evilking7 Yeah it was some heat! Eating in public is not allowed during Ramadan so if I get a chocolate bar it'll have to wait till I get back to the hotel! At which point it will be a hot chocolate drink!
juli LOL...yep... it sounds Abu Dhabi to me.. if only we meet earlier, you'll probably have a first class service from the airport to your hotel :)
