Another day of torrential rain greets us, as I have become used to in Singapore. Miao decides to go back to bed and so I get the breakfast and then plan what the next step in the travel should be. A flight Jakarta definitely needs to be looked at and so the morning is taken up with this activity. I have not had to book a flight in a long time and so I forget just how much of a pain it is checking all the comparison websites and then some of the airline websites as not all are listed. Eventually get on sorted for tomorrow, I would have thought that it would have been cheaper booking it last minute, but this is not the case. The other annoying thing that I have to consider is that in order to enter Indonesia you are supposed to have a return flight booked. This is a problem as I am not sure how long I am going to stay, and where my last point of departure will be. I read many blogs and advice, with some people stating that they get asked every time they travel, while others saying that they have never been asked. If I was on my own I would probably just have gambled and dealt with anything that may have happened, but as Miao is with me I decide that it would be best if we book some fake return flights.

We decide that we should save some money today and so head out in the rain to go in search of some food for Miao to cook for us tonight. Not wanting to brave the Mustafa Centre again we head in to the shopping area that is close to our metro stop in Bugis. As luck would have it we manage to stumble across a perfectly suitable grocery shop that has everything that we need, and so we stock up for this evening. We drop the stuff back to the hostel and then head back down to Marina Bay. Miao wants to go and see the Merlion, which is the national symbol of Singapore. It is just as it sounds, a lion head on the body of a fish. It is a fountain on the other side of Marina Bay, highly over rated if you ask me, but Miao is keen and so that is what we head towards. Of course when we get there the weather is still bad and when I explain to Miao that it will take us at least 40mins to walk over there, her enthusiasm instantly disappears. So we come all this way, and now she doesn't want to go, brilliant! After a final look around the shopping centre that is nearby, and some bubbletea, we head back. Though I do manage to pick up some new storage bags for my clothes, hopefully this will make my rucksack more acceptable.

At the hostel chef Zhang gets straight down to business. Rustling up something that was even more delicious than her effort a few nights ago. Again Miao has cooked enough food for an army, but I think this is just the Chinese way, I clear everything up and then we just have a few beers before getting a relatively early night as we have to be up pretty early tomorrow.
