I meet SJ early as we plan to have a look at a few of the shopping centres, again I want to have a look for my rucksack. We end up getting a taxi, after refusing many that would not use the meter, and arrive at the first shopping centre at 10. Amazingly, though the shopping centre is open, none of the shops are. Nothing opens until 10, we wander around to find the shop that I want to look at, having checked the internet to see that it is a licensed stockist of the bag I want. Having located the shop we go for a coffee and wait for the shops to open. Just a very different was of doing things here, very few places are open at 9, I guess there aren't too many people around at that time. When they do open, it takes all of 2 seconds for me to see that they do not have what I wanted. Brilliant, on to the next shopping centre. Again no joy. Sick of taxis we decide to jump on a bus, in the hope that it might take us somewhere near something that we might want to see. As luck would have it, it did, straight to Petronas Towers, result.

Now these buses are fairly strange. You jump on and there is a conductor who comes to find you, you tell him where you want to go and then he gives you a ticket. I suppose it means that the buses are quicker as the driver doesn't need to deal with this, bus i'm not sure that it is a cost effective way of doing it. Our bus even had 2 conductors, definitely not necessary. Anyway, we get to Petronas Towers, which also happens to be another shopping centre, but again no joy, I'm getting used to this by now. We grab some bubble tea while getting lost as we wander around an underground, that supposedly leads back towards Chinatown, where we are staying. After wandering around in the ridiculous heat all afternoon, walking in to countless shopping centres to be disappointed, we crack at 4pm, and stop for a pint. Inevitably this lead to another and so the night went on. From pub to pub, also manager to get in some quality people watching later on in the evening, while in the midst of Chinatown. It was raining, and what people will use to cover their head was more than interesting. When I get back to the hostel I grab an Indian from across the street, a chicken Roti. Fantastic!
