We finally had an opportunity to sleep late- so we did! We took the bus into Venice, then the vaporetto to Piazza San Marco so Pat and Lindsey could see the church. The line was long again so we didn't go inside. We were hungry! And so we had lunch at a touristy place that was just okay ... The kids took off to explore and Joey and I took a path we hadn't tried before - and of course I did some shopping). I bought a wool beret (the Patagonia one kept popping up off my head) and some leather gloves lined in rabbit (the gloves from Costco that allowed me to us my iPhone weren't warm and the fisherman gloves were in my lighter jacket). We stopped for hot chocolate in a hotel bar back at Piazza San Marco and then - I found yet another pair of cool glasses frames! I will have a pretty impressive collection very soon. Since I have to wear reasonably "sensible" shoes, I've switched my fashion searches to frames. By then it was time to meet up with the kids. So e got on a vaporetto - and took it the wrong way. We had to get off and get back on one that was a "local" - so we texted to meet at the restaurant Osteria l'Orto Dei Mori for dinner. We have eaten here before, in 2012. It was amazing the, and now as well. We started with a fennel salad, fennel soup with scallops, and then either steak for the guys and veal for us ladies. And we shared . We ordered an amarone naturally and were thoroughly happy with our meal! So happy and eager that we ate the food without taking pictures! We departed too full, walked past da Robia where we had also eaten previously and promptly made reservations for tomorrow night! Bad day for pix... Back to the hotel.
