Well we got off the ship in due course and after many discussions on how to get to the car rental agency, we arrived to find that the car they saved for us was too small for all our luggage. Can you say "overpacking"? We tried another car, and were possibly going to trade vehicles with another group who said that their vehicle was too big, but they ultimately decided to keep theirs. Finally Europcar "found " a humongous Fiat that holds 9 people and luggage. Now all we need is for Joey to drive it (manual shift) and me to navigate. Right away we took a slightly wrong turn that took us on local roads past Santa Marinella instead of onto the highway. It was a lovely drive, and we eventually found a connector back to the highway. South of Rome we passed a huge field of solar panels, covering rolling hills. No idea what it was attached to. And beautiful mountains. We stopped at a little place, the Golden cafe for lunch. Bit was clean and cheap, and the pizza was pretty good - not hot out of the oven, but tasty. Back on the road we missed a turn past Pompeii and lost a bit of time, but were surprised by the long tunnel to Sorrento, with a fort at the end. We opened up to a gorgeous view of the sea. But wait, another tunnel ... And then we saw the coastline - amazing! And it continued... Using Google maps, we made it to our villa and one of our hosts, Natalie, open the gate for us and voilà – we entered a beautiful garden. After dropping our bags, and getting a little tour of our space, we went to a wonderful restaurant – Da Filippo. To be honest, when one thinks of a Villa in the middle of downtown Sorrento, we did expect a bit more elegance. This villa is a bit more suited for families with children, and with indestructible furniture. But the hosts are amazing, they are generous with their time and willing to drive us wherever we need to go. But adventure awaits!

Eda Great pics Joey!! Love the commentay, Vicki, keeping us all on board!
Tom Turner The picture over looking Sorrento reminded me when we all came off the ship ( in Naples I believe ) and took the bus, as we came around the bend and looked down onto the same exact view! Thanks for the deja vu Vicki.
