So I started the day with a walk up the slight slope to Edinburgh Castle - and to those who don't read sarcasm - Holy crap that hurt!
The amazingness that is the castle make it well worth it. The history that has occured within those walls is amazing. The presentations on scottish Military history is amazing. Even to someone like me - who isn't normally all that interested. I completely got sucked into the story of Mary the Queen of Scots who was coronated when she was 9 months old. Spent 20 of her 44 years of life locked up but still managed to get married and be widowed 3 times (only the 2nd on was suspicious).
After that I got on a bus and headed out to the decomissioned Royal Yacht Britannia which has a permanent berth at the Quay just outside the city. The rooms for all the sailors were just like standard military billets but the royal family rooms are amazing. There are some family photos still decorating the walls - it's nice to know they have fun every now and again. I will point out that there was not a double bed on that boat untill Charles put one in for his and Diana's honeymoon - so no one was getting cosy.
Then i headed out on a ghost tour, after having the best pork sausages, mashed potatoes and onion gravy. The tour told some historical stories which had a haunted ending and that will have me avoiding those little lanes in the old town at a greater distance. Beware of the dark!
