After a very cold night in my tent we all woke up at 5 to go and see the sun rise over Uluru, which was stunning, and worth the early wake up!
We then walked throughh the valley of the winds in Kata Tjuta, which is a conglomerate rock formation not far from uluru and is also very cool. On this walk we saw a wikd wallaby which was very exciting! When we got to the top of our climb, there was the most beautifuk view over the national park.
After the walk we went to the culture centre, where we learned more about the aboriginal culture in thhe area, which was fascinating. There was also a book full of letters from people who had either climbed uluru or taken rocks from it and thought they had been cursed ever since so were asking forgiveness. Some crazy stories!
Doc, the guide, also gave us a quick leason on the geology of the area - which was kind of needed!
Back to camp for lunch, which was camel burger, and then it was back on the bus and a long drive to Kings Canyon.
We arrived in Our Camp in Kings Canyon - a much more remote place than the last, and climbed a hill to watch the sunset, while we were uo there we saw a couple of dingoes wanser through our camp below us which was exciting too!
We ate dinner, made some damper over the camp fire and ate that and then lookednat the starts - so it was quite useful to have Stig the NASA scientist!
I then got into my swag for the night. I did this after being told it was much warmer than the tent...which was actually true! It's essentially a sleeping bag with a mat inside it, so i lay by the campfire with some of the germans and slept under the stars, trying not to think about the dingoes. We were the only people in the campsite, in the middle of nowhere ans the sky was just gorgeous! I slept so well that night and was very warm!
