Woke up at 5.30am this morning in order to check out and be on a bus by 6am. I was greeted by Doc and Froggy who were the guides, hopped on the bus with the other peiple and drove until 12. On the way we stopped off at a camel farm, but i decided not to ride them as they looked a bit sad..we also stopped at a ranch called curting aprings in the middle ofnnowhere. Tge roads were so long and so empty!
We also stopped to collect firewood, and along the way we saw some wedge tailed eagles and huge areas which were being burned off for the summer.
We reached camp in Yulara, the Uluru resort and went to our campsite, where we were joined by some new members of the group so we totalled at 14 people - 2 Belgians, 2 Aussies and 7 germans - one of whom is a helicopter pilot for the german federal police. One of the aussies was also a NASA scientist, measuring continental drift etc so i got completely over excited by that! We ate lunch in camp and then set off to uluru.
Uluru is just too cool! It's absolutely massive - taller than all the skyscrapers in Sydney. We went to look in some caves around it which had cave paintings in and then did a half base walk which was great to see it up close. We didntnhave time to walk alk the way around because we then went to see the sun set behind Kata Tjuta and see Uluru change colour whike having a drink - it was amazing and so beautiful!
We returned to camp then where we had a dinner of camel sausages and kangaroo, tgen sat around the campfire before going to bed in our tents quite early following an early start!
