Today we travelled from Hue to Hoi An, about 3 hours in our mini bus. On the way we stopped at a lookout to see the famous China Beach on the South China Sea! We then had to drive via Danang and got to see the beach up close, pretty misty so couldn't see much. But hey, you see one beach you've seen them all right?
We arrived in Hoi An around lunch time and checked into the hotel which was a nice one (thank you god!) with a swimming pool and located about 15mins walk from town. I desperately needed some clothes washed and the hotel couldn't do it but suggested a lady in the street to do it, she was waiting out the front wit her bicycle! Her name was Linh and she said she would bring it back 5pm tomorrow. In hindsight, could be a bad move but what would someone want with two Aussie girls stinky laundry? Only time roll tell!
We headed into town for lunch and dined at a place called Miss Ly's, one of the first restaurants in the area and opened about 20 years ago. I go for the local tasting plate of fried wontons (pork wontons fried topped with a tomato based sauce, kind of like a taco), White rose dumplings (steamed shrimp rice dumplings, with garlic lemon chilli), spring rolls (pork & vegetables in rice paper with herbs and peanut) and Cau lau noodle (pork with hokien noodles, dressing and greens, like a salad). It was the best meal I have had so far, hence the detail, I don't want to forget it!
We then headed off though town to find the jewellers and tailors, it's not hard cause they ate everywhere! After some recommendations from Long we headed off shopping. I ordered a work skirt and top from one tailor and two dresses from another!
We got back to the hotel a little late a decide to eat in, watch movies and have an early night. Hopefully i will recover from my cold!
