We arrived in the small town of Vang Vieng about 5pm. Our guesthouse, (which calls itself a resort, false advertising!) is set on the banks of the Nam Song river.
Vang Vieng is known for its tubing, kayaking, spectacular mountains and limestone caves. Also for drunken tourists stumbling through town, and bars playing reruns of friends and family guy.
The rooms are probably the worse we have experienced so far, and quite disappointing considering how lovely that last place was. The bathroom really just smells and the place isn't kept too well. This only adds to my already gloomy mood....
We head out to dinner with Long to a little bar in town, not before booking our tubing activity for tomorrow, which starts at 1pm! This I am excited about, despite all the warnings otherwise. For dinner I had a beef burger and vanilla shake which really hits the spot. The bar plays funky tunes and I'm feeling a little better.
No drinks for me tonight so I head back to the delightful (!) room to try and get some shut eye. As we arrived back at our room we noticed some men sitting between ours and the girls room. We later realised these people, who I'm guessing work here, have a little shack set up behind our room! As the walls are so thin (bamboo) they were sitting right next to our wall talking and playing music! So rude we could hear everything! They were up to the early hours! At least tomorrow we will be passed out pretty early....

Ajmal A few tinhgs: 1. Drunken camping/canoeing/tubing is what everyone does here in the summer. We have Apple River not far from me and yeah- I'm pretty sure the water is mostly beer and piss. :) 2. I feel like you need to come to America so I can feed you. Are you not eating? You need to eat. It's Thanksgiving here today and the amount of food happening right now is ridiculous. I have 4 dozen muffins and 3 pies on my counter right now. Not including everything I'm making. 3. Stop breaking your cameras. Miss you... and keep having fun!
